George Walker (Vice Chairman)

George has long standing experience of the taxi and private hire industry starting in 1960 as a driver and progressing through stages as a controller and manager to form his own companies culminating in 1977 when he took over Blue Anchor Car Services and turned it into the largest Private Hire Company in South East London.

George has always supported the need to improve standards in the taxi industry and joined National Private Hire Association at its first launch, and subsequently  became the Board Member for London and Southern England.  Other offices held include:

Like all Board Members of the PTA, George has had a varied career including in early days as a boxer and shop steward in the docks.  He continues to support a wide range of charities especially to encourage young people in the arts and theatre.
